What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your initial headache consultation typically lasts 60 minutes and includes:

  1. Detailed history review

We’ll discuss your headache patterns, triggers, past treatments, and how headaches affect your daily life.

  2. Neurological examination

A focused exam to evaluate your symptoms and rule out secondary causes.

  3. Personalized treatment plan

Based on your diagnosis, we’ll outline a step-by-step care plan that may include preventive therapy, acute rescue options, and lifestyle modifications.

  4. Diagnostic imaging if needed

We’ll order MRI or other studies if clinically indicated.

When Your Neck Is Part of the Headache

Many headache practices can manage the migraine component but cannot directly treat a cervical pain generator. Many pain practices can treat the neck but offer no neurologist-led headache program. We do both — in one plan.

For neck-driven (cervicogenic) headaches and occipital neuralgia, our team combines comprehensive headache evaluation, in-house physical therapy for cervical contributors, occipital and related nerve blocks, and — when clinically appropriate — C-arm-guided cervical procedures. We treat the headache and the contributing cervical condition — not just one side of the problem.

Why See a Headache Specialist?

An estimated 45 million Americans live with migraine — while only a few hundred certified headache specialists practice nationwide. Many headache sufferers spend years cycling through primary care, emergency rooms, and urgent care without lasting relief.

A headache specialist brings dedicated training and access to the latest FDA-approved therapies — and here, that specialist works alongside infusion, neuromodulation, physical therapy, and interventional pain care in the same practice.
